Xiu-Wu Bian, MD, PhD (website in Chinese), is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chief physician, a Professor of Pathology at Institute of Pathology, Southwest Cancer Center, Chongqing, China and a Visiting Professor of Pathology at University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, China. He is currently the President of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association Pathologists Branch, the Vice President of the Stem Cell Biology Branch of the Chinese Society of Cell Biology, and a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese Medical Association Pathology Branch. He is an expert of (tumor) neuropathology. His research focuses on cancer stem cells and tumor microenvironment. As the corresponding author, he has published more than 130 papers in leading journals such as Nature, Science, Cell, Cell Stem Cell, Nature Immunology, Nature Neuroscience, and Science Translational Medicine, and won the first prize of National Science and Technology Advancement Award And Technology Progress Award and the first National Innovation Competition Award.
